Chelsea defender Mark Cucurella has teased and praised teammate Cole Palmer at the same time.
The British Daily Mail reported on the 12th (Korea Standard Time) that “Cucurella revealed a bizarre mockery and one flaw toward Palmer.”
“I can’t say he’s a soccer player when I see him without a uniform,” Cucurella said of Palmer. “He doesn’t seem to kick hard on the field, but he scores all of them. He’s very different. I don’t know how to explain it.”
He continued, “Palmer is special. We were so lucky to have him. Thank God he didn’t play much for the Euros. He almost ruined us. If you continue like this, you will be the best. I don’t have much strength in my hair, but if that’s the only problem, it’s okay.”
Palmer is an attacking midfielder from Manchester City Youth. He was regarded as a player with great talent from an early age. He made his debut playing for the Manchester City team for the first time in the 2021-22 season. He also scored his debut goal in the 2021-22 season.
However, Palmer was not given as many chances as he wanted. In the 2022-23 season, he scored one goal and one assist in 25 games, but he was not satisfied. Early last season, Palmer chose to move. It was to be guaranteed more chances.
The destination was Chelsea. In the process, Palmer was criticized. Chris Sutton, an English football expert, said that Palmer must be lacking something based on Guardiola’s standards. He does not make mistakes.
However, Palmer refuted the suspicion with his skills. He scored 25 goals and 15 assists in 45 matches, quickly becoming the best offensive resource in the Premier League. In recognition of his stellar performance, he was named PFA Young Player of the Year, PL Young Player of the Year, and Chelsea Player of the Year.
Palmer also played for the English national soccer team at the Euro 2024 after the season ended. He is still in sharp form this season. He has scored six goals and five assists in nine matches, leading Chelsea’s offense.
Regarding Palmer’s move to Chelsea, 꽁머니, who played for Liverpool in the past, said, “It was Guardiola’s fault. I almost respect him. I don’t think he would have expected what would happen at Chelsea last season.”
